Start of the Campaign – Upon James Gavin notifying the Berks County Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge No. 71 of his intent to run for Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Berks County, Daniel P. Billings (Retired Sergeant of the Wyomissing Police) made a motion for Lodge No. 71 to support Gavin’s campaign bid. Anthony Garipoli, Sr. (Retired Chief of Police of the Central Berks Regional Police Department and current Berks County Detective) seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously and the Berks County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 71 is supporting Gavin’s candidacy. The FOP is a fraternal and labor organization representing all county police officers in Berks County.
January 8, 2021 – Berks County District Attorney John T. Adams announced his support of Gavin’s judicial candidacy in a letter stating, “I am pleased to announce my support of your candidacy for the position of Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Berks County. Your experience in many areas of the law is exemplary and as a result, you will have the knowledge and the experience to handle varied judicial assignments. Foremost, your experience as a prosecutor will be a great benefit to our bench when you are elected to be a judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Berks County.
